Idea ala JimS from Wired article. New Magic Item -- Chains of Fool Pitying Description -- The chains are impressive and when worn can only be described as enormous. They automatically change size to almost, just almost, cause severe back strain for wearer. Multiple gold rope chains and an eclectic assortment of charms and lesser chains make up the massive Chains of Fool Pitying. The charms shift every midnight causing the wearer and his associates some morning laughs. Effects -- The Chains of Fool Pitying allow the wearer to one time per day cast 'Fool Pitying' upon one humanoid subject as per the spell at level 15. As an added bonus the Chains allow the wearer to speak and understand the language Jibba Jabba with perfect fluency. New Spell -- Fool Pitying Enchantment 3rd level arcane spell, Will Save for half, Spell Resistance Effect -- This spell fills the target with shame and confusion (foolishness) for 1d3 rounds + 1 round / 3 levels.. While affected by this spell the target can only stare at shiny objects (normally the Chains of Fool Pitying), drool, and defend himself. Complex thought and hostile actions are impossible. As a side effect the target of this spell gains the ability to speak Jibba Jabba for 1d4 weeks. |

From EOnline : Gary Gygax is gone. You've probably never heard of the guy, but he changed how we play, every one of us, and he brought dwarves and goblins into the mainstream of pop culture. He was co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, author of classics such as The Monster Manual and Dungeon Masters Guide, and a legitimate 20th-level Nerd God. He died this morning, at the age of 69, in his Lake Geneva, Wisconsin home, and nobody should turn on their XBOX or PS3 today without thinking of him, and thanking him. Without Gary Gygax, we wouldn't have role playing games, period. Not just D&D, which has been played by more than 20 million people, but the bloated universe of questing elves and ravenous minotaurs that so many of us dwell in, everything from Zelda to World of Warcraft. In 1974, Gygax and partner Dave Arneson took the fantasy realm best described by J.R.R. Tolkien, and unleashed it in a form that has proved immortal: a game. A game first played with graph paper, dice and most of all, friends and imagination. Without Gary Gygax there would be no role-playing, let alone a Seraphim Guard. Regardless of your feeling about Dungeons & Dragons, or the people who play it, none of us would be doing what we are doing without Gary Gygax, Dave Arneson and Dungeons and Dragons. As Aren, the co-owner of Seraphim Guard, put it: "I hope that he is received by the gods of his people in the manner that he deserves." It is both ironic and probably appropriate that Gary passed away on GM's Day. Seraphim Guard offers its condolenses and heartfelt sympathies to Gary's family and friends, as well as to his many fans around the world (of which the owners of Seraphim Guard are proud to be considered among that number). He will be missed greatly. |
