Burning Skies is a role-playing game powered by the d6 System (owned and published by West End Games). Burning Skies is about a world changed in the year 1880, a year known as The Time of the Burning Skies. In 1880 the skies of the world were filled with celestial activity of a level previously unparalelled. Comets, meteors, shooting stars and all other manner of astronomical material filled the Earth's skies. There was not a corner of the world untouched by the phenomenon. All of this energy, all of this activity changed the world and it changed a number of people in the world as well. After The Time of the Burning Skies there were suddenly giants in the Earth again. Men and women around the world who were good at things suddenly found themselves better at them. Much better at them. Hunters could suddenly track around the world. A woman with a good memory and a mind towards history found herself in possession of the memories of all of her ancestors, back to the first human in her family. Warriors and fighters suddenly found themselves with the strength of an army. And now, in the world of the present, behind the screen of what you and I know to be true about the world and its workings are the Families. The Families are those descended from those who were empowered by the Burning Skies, those who have inherited their great gifts. The Families have inherited the powers of great heroes and great monsters and it is within their hands to change the world. Whether these changes are for good or evil are up to you, those who play their games in the world of Burning Skies: A Modern Myth. More than pulp fiction, this is a new myth.
